Architecture Design Studio 1

Project 1: Self Representation

The piece I've produced ia a piece that fully represents who I am, inside and out. Each material and piece that I've used has a figurative and deeper meaning. The theme of my my artwork is my history towards architecture, basically what made me who i am today, and my interests and what I believe in. The main focus here is the Lego buildings that show my initials. The reason I'm here today and who I am today is all because of my grandfather. Building up structures, shapes and forms since young has developed a side of me that allows me to capture my interest in architecture.

Nails

Nails

The nails represents humbleness as to me, it is a very important trait. Nailing myself to the ground like an anchor and being down to earth in whatever I do.

Colourful Strings

Colourful Strings

The many colours of threads that I’ve used represent the many emotions and personalities that I have as a human. The intertwined threads represent the fact that never show or even share everything about me at one go. The many layers of threads shows theres more to me than what meets the eye

Stage

Stage

The stage is representing my fear and the main cause of my low self-confidence- STAGE FRIGHT. Despite my fear or stage fright, I’ll still stand strong and do my best.

Mirrors

Mirrors

The mirror behind gives the whole artwork depth and shows the reflection of who I really am inside and out.

Musical Notes

Musical Notes

The blue musical notes represent my love for music and playing piano. The blue colour on the other hand represents loyalty which is another trait that I value most in my life.

LEGO

The MS made out of Lego blocks represents me. Meera Satheesh!

Project 2 : Me In Space (1:1 Scale Model)

The main aim of this project is to expand on the interpretation of the self (or multiple selves) and how this is to be expressed spatially. Firstly, we were required to explore the notions of scale and proportion which eventually progressed on to understand how the human body relates to space, and further developing an understanding of scale and proportion in the relationship between the body and space. The introduction to basic design principles such as the rudimentary ways in which to order and organize spaces and forms were also explored. This is to allowed us the ability to articulate and dictate what our designs are as we move on to develop the ideas and interpretations of the self. The final design were produced as a full 1:1 scaled installation.

Project 3 : My City Dream Space

We were required to design a dreamspace for ourself by ‘grafting’ or engaging it to the walls of an imagined “city” on an empty abandoned plot.
In the development of this design, we had to work on exploring several key ideas that have been introduced throughout the semester in a series of design tasks and exercises to be carried out simultaneously.

The exploration of the Narrative and Spatial Design were also needed in this task which aims to build upon the key themes of conceptual development, scale and proportion (anthropometry), and basic design principles in spatial organizations and relationships. In addition to that,
we also explored the notions and experiential effects of materials and the senses in this final design project.

Group Model (Scale 1:50)

The movie in which our site was taken was ; The Fifth Elment. Through the understanding the site, we were required to gain inspirtion not only for the character and thematic development, but also to derive the nature of the site and imagined cityscape.
